The most critical process of roll coating solid aluminum sheet is roll coating. The roll coating process was introduced from abroad in the late 1980s and early 1990s in China. It has experienced nearly 20 years of development in China and has become a relatively mature and reliable coating technology.  Solid Aluminum sheet is a kind of coating with special properties formed on the surface of aluminum substrate after pretreatment and roll coating process. It is widely used in the interior and exterior decoration of modern tall buildings.

 

Roll coated aluminum sheet has the advantage like follows:

(1) Light weight, good rigidity and high strength.  3.0mm thick aluminum plate weighs 8kg per square plate and has tensile strength of 100-280N/mm2.

(2) Good durability and corrosion resistance.  PVDF fluorocarbon paint using kynar-500 and hylur500 as base materials can be used for 25 years without fading.  Compared with previous exterior wall materials, the usage period can be extended more than 10 years.

(3) Good manufacturability.  Aluminum plates can be processed into various complicated geometric shapes such as planes, arcs and spheres.

(4) Uniform coating, multiple colors and large selection space.

(5) It is not easy to stain and easy to clean and maintain.  The non-adhesion of fluorine coating film makes it difficult to attach pollutants to the surface.

(6) Installation and construction are conveniently and quickly.

(7) It can be recycled, which is beneficial to environmental protection.  Aluminum plate can be 100% recycled, which is different from decorative materials such as glass, stone, ceramic, aluminum-plastic plate, etc. and has a high recycling value.

Compared with common spraying technology, it has the following characteristics:

(1) The film thickness of aluminum plate coating by roller coating is only 2/3 of that by spraying, and the film thickness can be controlled within 1~ 2μm, and the physical and chemical properties are better than that by spraying coating.  The production process is more environment-friendly without flying paint.

(2) the film thickness is reduced by one third, the coating is not wasted, and the coating is comprehensively saved by more than 50 percent;

(3) the production speed of roller coating can be increased by more than 10 times than that of spraying, thus greatly improving the efficiency, reducing the labor cost, reducing the energy consumption, and being more energy-saving and low-carbon;

(4) Roll coating can be used to produce aluminum veneer, which can be transported by flat plate or even processed and installed on site.  However, the aluminum veneer produced by spraying can only be transported as finished products, which can reduce the transportation volume by 5 times and the transportation cost by more than 65%.
